Maryland State Championship Series

For the third year in a row, the Maryland State Championship Series of 19th Century Base Ball Clubs is taking place in 2009.  The four VBBA clubs from Chesapeake & Potomac, Elkton, Talbot, and the newcomber Havre de Grace are battling it out this year for seeding in the state championship tournament which will take place August 30 at the Susquhanna State Park outside of Havre de Grace at the Deer Creek Picnic Area.  The format for the tournament will be the #1 seed will play the #4 seed while the #2 plays the #3 in a single match play off to see who will battle for the state championship.

Each club battles it out against the other 3 in home and home 9 inning double headers.  The seeds are determined by the best winning percentage.  In 2007, Talbot was the regular season champion but Elkton won the tournament to take home the first crown.  In 2008, Elkton won both the regular season and tournament titles.
